Yes, wearing a maxi dress over shorts is a thing.
Max out the Maxi Dress
One Maxi dress, and SO many ways to wear it. What makes this dress so versatile? It starts with its simple, clean and classic lines. The buttons from top to bottom enable you to wear it open or closed. And yes, apparently wearing a dress over shorts IS a thing. I’m going to say it’s a cornerstone of the 60s freedom movement. This makes this look perfect for a music festival. (I’ve yet to attend one.) Wearing this dress as a long layer is fun, relaxed and ideal for the beach. It also is consistent with the nature-loving boho vibe.
It’s also great for beach trip packing.
This look has several elements of boho style:
-
Natural fabrics
-
Multi-layered
-
Comfort
-
Natural tones
-
High-waisted
Accessories
On our recent trip to Manhattan Beach, I wore these sunglasses the most. I also can’t stop with these lightweight hoops. And I LOVE using the turban headband to manage my hair in the wind. this well-designed headband has a hidden wire that helps it keep its shape.
Honestly, this would be hard but if I could only get one pair of shoes, one sunglasses, and one pair of earrings it would be these. They’re all light in weight, versatile, and flattering. Not to mention, easy to style from dressy to casual and everything in between. These accessories are my spring 2018 favorites.
I loved all the feedback on IG. If you missed it, check it out here.
Thanks so much for visiting!
So tell me. What do you think about a dress with shorts? It’s a first for me and I’m having fun with it.

I. love. this. look.
When I first saw the title I was like “duh? I wear shorts under every dress?” then I saw the photos and GIRL YOU HAVE CHANGED MY WORLD WITH THIS LOOK. I’ve got some button up dresses that don’t fit buttoned anymore because I’ve put on some weight but they’d fit beautifully styled this way. You’re a genuis!

Thank you, Dannie! That sucks! I know the awful feeling of growing out of my favorite clothes. That’s another reason part of my blog is about diet and fitness. Weight can creep up on me if I’m not careful, and it doesn’t get any easier the older I get. That said, I also know we can shrink back into our favorites.
I’m really glad that you found my post helpful 🙂
