Trend Alert: Use a Basket as a Tree Collar
Decorating Trends to Try Now: Use a Basket as a Tree Collar, and if the stand doesn’t fit, wrap it in a blanket.
HOLIDAY TREE TRENDS
Skip the skirt and add a tree collar. I love the look of a knitted or velvet blanket as a tree skirt. But if you want to elevate your tree decor, use a basket as a tree collar. It’s a fresh idea for holiday decorating. There are plenty of DIU ways to make a basket into a proper tree collar on Pinterest. It’s fun to see all the creative ideas. If you’re not inclined to be that crafty, here’s my hack. Yes, it was an accident, but happy accidents are the best.
(Remember this happy accident about the Microwave Cheese Chips? They would be a great low carb holiday party snack.)
This treestand is sitting on top of the basket because it wouldn’t fit inside. The treestand is covered with the blanket. This happy accident turned our 7′ tree into an 8’6″ tree.
IF YOUR TREESTAND DOESN’T FIT IN YOUR BASKET
You have 3 options if your tree stand doesn’t fit inside the basket.
1. Order a different treestand that will fit.
2. Remove the bottom of the basket so it becomes a collar example HERE
3. If your tree is light and naked (no ornaments), try wrapping a blanket around it like this. Bonus: it adds extra hight. You can weight it down with sandbags if you’re concerned about it toppling over. Sandbags like the ones used in photography studios are ideal because they add weight to both sides of the tree stand.
