5 Fast Kitchen Updates W/out Construction
Do you want to change the look of your kitchen without going through construction? Here are 5 fast kitchen updates. A little lift and tuck always makes us feel better, right? Give your kitchen a facelift.
If you’ve ever lived through a total kitchen renovation, you know the appeal of changing the look without having to forfeit a functioning kitchen. I love change and crave new, but I didn’t want to go through the trouble and expense. So here’s what we did.
Kitchen a Facelift Favorites
- Updated the barstools.
- Changed the cabinet hardware.
- Put faux finish on the upper cabinets glass to make it look like antique mirror. This allows for extra storage, and it has a pretty effect.
- Applied faux finish on the wood cabinets.
- Bought new appliances (Our old oven was on the brink, and our dishwasher was always a lemon. So replacing these two was a real treat. We also added a new refrigerator and microwave.)

DISAPOINTMENTS
Our kitchen cabinets were painted grey several years ago. I’m very tired of the grey kitchen look. We therefore added a glaze and faux finish. It warmed up the color, but it didn’t turn as beige as I had hoped. However, the cabinets are refreshed, and the hardware pops.
FAVORITE of the favorites
My favorite thing about the kitchen update are these wingback bar stools with little black nail-heads. LOVE them.
I took the doors off the center cabinets in an attempt to copy the look of open shelves, and I’m happy about that look!
Sometimes all you need is a little pick me up. A small project can make a big difference. Hope you enjoy these ideas for changing up the kitchen without construction. Is your kitchen in need of a facelift?

Do you happen to know the name of the color of your cabinets? I am in the middle of replacing cabinet doors and I haven’t quite found the right color of white. I love these ideas though, Jean! It’s amazing how cabinet hardware can change the look and feel of your kitchen.

Hi Lindsay! Thank You! These cabinets were painted a warm grey about 4 years ago and then recently my neighbor added a faux finish over the grey. The finish has more cream and beige with pearl highlights. I wish my final result was more cream. I also wish I could direct you with just one color. 🙂 I’d love to see how your cabinets turn out! I know it’s a big decision. I agree it’s amazing how new hardware changes everything. Thanks for reaching out. Happy new year!
